Prohibited Items

An item that may be utilized for any illegal and disturbing act that endangers safe flight or prevents flight, such as hijacking or sabotage, as per Paragraph 1, Article 21 of the Aviation Security Act.

How to check a prohibited item

  • The Aviation Security Voluntary Report website of TS (avsec.kotsa.or.kr) and the prohibited item mobile application show which items are prohibited from flights.
    • Carried item : An item that the passenger carries into the aircraft
    • Consigned item : An item that the passenger consigns to the airline upon checking in
  • A non-prohibited item may not be allowed in the aircraft if it is deemed by the airport security screener or the air operator to be dangerous to air safety or to pose a risk to other passengers or cabin crew.

What happens if a prohibited item is carried into the aircraft

A person carrying a prohibited item into the aircraft will be subject to imprisonment of 2~5 years or fine of KRW 20~50 million as per Article 44 of the Aviation Security Act.
